Alec Empire has dabbled in multiple genres and I rather suspect he'll carry on doing whatever he wants to do.

few things i noticed:

- the video is labeled as being at an Apple store in Shibuya/Japan

- sounds like he's mixing material from both NINTENDO TEENAGE ROBOTS as well as the FLEX BUSTERMAN release from PATRIC C. ---> safe to assume there's not fans of that material here, eh?

...where's my softball, hmmm....

I've only ever met one person that likes Nintendo teenage robots, even I think it's a crock of shit although I'm not one for chiptune type stuff, in fact I think a lot of Alec Empire's music is gash. Some of his other releases make up for it though imho.

I'll make an exception for the new Sonic death rabbit and Baseck split though, for some reason I actually quite enjoyed it, that and a bit of Scotch egg from time to time. Maybe it's because I was deprived of video game consoles as a child.

just saw sonic death rabbit open up for skinny puppy, i left before skinny puppy went on because i wanted to support baseck . . . . even though i won the tickets on the radio.

i am not really fond of allot of chiptune because most of the kids tha make it like to make it in the element of house or electro, and that's just not me cup of tits, not only that but it seems that most of the shit i come across just seems like who ever is making it is fucking tone deaf and doesn't know shit about chord progression.

that's a shame that you didn't have a nintendo back in the day, i like composing chiptune when i am a bit down, as much as i loved playing nintendo i always played it alone . . .

I also like sabrepule but that's cus of the Breakcore element.

Aye all my mates had Nintendos and Segas, it wasn't until Uni that I met a handful of guys who owned PCs with 3.1 who played all the cult PC games of the 80s and 90s. Commander Keen, Jason Storm, Jazz Jackrabbit and Zool, One must Fall, Highway Hunter, Lotus challenge............... If someone started mashing up this shit then I would be able to relate to it I guess. Some chiptune artists like Pixelh8 take themselves way too seriously though:

I shouldn't bad mouth him cus he used to be associated with Marionette before he ended up on GMTV and made it "big", I still find him to be highly fagnostic though.

i first heard SDR and Baseck live prior to ever hearing that stuff on record and wow is there a difference, as much as i love the style that whole cd is made in i almost couldnt listen to it because its just sooo much better live

as for the chiptune im a pretty big fan, though, like snafu said theres alot of shite out there (most chipbreak music mainly is a conglomerate of fl chips and the amen break, but lets not get into that)

basecks got it down
epsilon is great
i really like alot of the work snafu has done

one of these days i will release all my chiptune stuff, right now iv got a giant folder of unused chip melodies i made on fl that never got turned into full songs, it seems with chiptunes i write it more for the fun of it rather than expecting to finish songs haha
