Animal Collective-Merriweather Post Pavilion

Postby HORSE FORCE » Fri Feb 27, 2009 8:43 am

This isnt a breakcore album at all, but I would just like to say that I love this album. I have been constantly zoning out to it. There are some really cool synth textures and catchy melodies that keep the album driving. It has a very dreamy, visual characteristic. one of the most interesting things about animal collective are their subtle rhythmic elements and polyrhythms. most of their stuff is pretty simple harmonically, but rhythmically it is pretty interesting.

although I hate pitchfork.com, they do have a good (but pretentious) review of this album http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/148230-animal-collective-merriweather-post-pavilion

i would just suggest trying to get the whole thing so you can listen to it from front to back.

I was very surprised when I noticed that lots of people were digging the Animal Collective. I always thought they would never have any sort of appeal outside of the very dorky or the very drugged up on wierd drugs.

Well those bands are certainly cool sounding. But I don't take drugs.
