Anyone know....

....If there's a breakcore scene in New Orleans at all? I'm doubting it to be honest, but when I get back I'm planning on picking up some CD turntables and pushing some music on the masses. Got some UK stuff that's gotta be listened to over in the states.

I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty embarrassed playing Shitmat to a Dave Brubeck fan.

Well...the way I see it, there's a small D+B community in Nola, and of course a pretty big avante-garde scene....so their hopefully just waiting for some high-speed mental breaks to fill a void they didn't know they had

I dunno, there's a genre that's getting quite big on the UK jazz scene called Death Jazz. Started years ago by John Zorn of course but it's seems to be really taking off being a fusion of jazz, punk and metal (especially grindcore). I doubt there's many over your way into that sort of stuff but I guessing if they like that, they'll at least be interested in breakcore.

Here's an article: http://music.guardian.co.uk/jazz/story/ ... 40,00.html

Sweet - cheers for the interesting article. And of course let us not forget about Opeth blending death metal and jazz for a while now...and there's also a jazz/thrash crossover in the form of Corporation 187 if you're looking or something that little bit harder

New Orleans is filled with crunkcore Djs and depressing brass bands about hurricane katrina. The streets are filled with preformers and spend it on more hats for more coins. Whats on the streets is cover bands, open window bars, antique stores, and jibb jabbern cajun food. Make a breakcore scene with some crunk musicians, money will flow.
