4 Killed in Gunfire @ Carl Cox Rave

Postby Thallium » Wed Nov 07, 2007 7:51 am

Four people were killed and at least nine injured when a gunman opened fire in a crowded show in Caracas, Venezuela.

"I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of Saturday (3rd November). My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in the horrific act that took place at this gig. I am informed that it was gang related, and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun. I find it such a sad moment in electronic music as this was probably one of the best set up shows I had played in South America and a sign of real progress was utterly hijacked by this mindless act. Again, my heart goes out to those that have died or been injured. This is NOT what the dance scene is about and is a million miles away from what I want to do, or promote." - Carl Cox.

There's even a video - here.

But it was in venezuela, so was prob something gang/drugs related, weird though, dont they have a door policy there, for not bringing guns inside the party?, glad i live in Holland. :D

it is sad for the victims but imho if you are going to tour economically deprived and strife-ridden zones such as venezuela to line your own pockets then you totally suck arse, specially if u come from america - a country that has continually interfered in the politics of venezuela for years now.

1) carl cox isn't american, he's a brit with jamaican parents.

2) why shouldn't people tour areas that aren't "first world"? are you trying to say that poor brown people who don't live in rich countries aren't deserving of it? I think it's more of a political statement to go take your art to the people than to sit at home and grumble about it.

3) i love me some techno, carl cox is actually one of the things that got me into spinning vinyl in the first place. he don't play no trance, y'all.
