http://www.mediafire.com/?k4mymjnmojz

i took out that reverse crash from the first kick and last snare and only used the clean hits.

layered a hard kick with a sub, layerd like 3 snares and a sub and added hats, cuz those hats fucking sucked

hope you enjoy =)

sounds dope!

added a little limiter and mild overdrive and got it sounding destructive ;)

how about making a tutorial on how to 'beef up' breaks? that sounds like a good plan to me?

get break and clean samples

warm the break up with a slight tad bit of distortion

find it's peeks via notching the parametric eq via "/"

layer

boost @ 90hz

decrease @ 1500khz

that's just the basics

you can do a whole lot with fucking around with attacks and such or automating volumes

i like a techy clean sound so i make sure that in the breaks i modify, that the snares pretty much fade out before the next shot

you can always clone the break and run it through a lp or a hp and just keep the shots you like

and never use the amen break. =)

i don't know if there's potential in this, but i can't stop loving this break (especially because of the shouting).
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?0q2iw2gljj5

but as much as i like the sound of it, i don't think i'll be able to properly work with it. it's potential for cutting-up and rearranging is somehow limited, and while the shouts make it really memorable it gets fucking annoying after a while.
if you manage to turn it into something more useful you'll be the man (tm)!

oh and by the way, does anyone have the proper name of this? i got the file under the name "tequila5"

edit: oh, and nice guidelines you wrote. i usually have a much more chaotic workflow, gotta try out what you wrote tonight (as long as i dont fall asleep on the keyboard because of all the beer  )

here ya go http://www.mediafire.com/?o13yfmz1zmg

i myself wouldn't use this break just because it doesn't tie in well what i do.

but i did enhance it if you can manage to do something with it.

i didn't know the break was mono at first, i guess the congo ghost notes kinda throw ya off.

all i did was clone it like 3 times, made one clone lowpass and boosted the volume so the sub can go through.

and with the other i high passed the break and expanded the stereo with a slight delay.

added a kick and clap/snap samples and a woodblock sample to accentuate the congo in the beginning

nice and crisp =)

hope you enjoy

wow, thanks O: and also thanks a lot for explaining how you did it, that's better than any tutorial :D

but i guess my plans with that break will disappoint you, since i am somehow drifting into a techno-ambient-dubstep direction (but to my defense, i never heard basic channel or pole)
