Making Breakcore for Dummies
Yep a noob so shoot me.
I find it difficult to google what I need to start making breakcore music. Like what open source free DJ software would you recommend? Tutorials or a manual would be a major bonus.
All I need is something to:
-Take in music files/samples/wavs/MIDI.
-Edit files along a beat.
-Add effects.
-Multiple tracks.
-Added bonus if it can make drum beats itself.
I'm decent at using video editing programs like premier pro. So I imagined that it would take the samekind of mind set. I tried using VSTHost but I have no idea what one would do with it. I know Reason, Cubasic and Alberton is what people would recommend, but I dont want to rip programs and Mr.Bankman forbids me from my credit card until I give him back money I theoretically owe him.
Instruments I have to add me own sound to it is my bodhran, bass, guitar, harmonica and beat boxing. My sister also has random music equipment that she doesnt know what it is, but I'll that stage, stage 3.
So a simple program to use would be awesome before I start making music with pro-gear.
Thanks for not leaving sarcastic or abusive remarks. Or pointing out I should get better at using the Google monster.

50 eur is very cheap compared to most other music software! Anyway Renoise is a "tracker" .. and there are loads of free/open source trackers on the internet, here's three:
http://psycle.pastnotecut.org/portal.php (this is made by the guy who originally made Renoise)
http://www.modplug.com/
http://www.buzzmachines.com/
By the way, I recommend that your inner anarchist forget about PHP and use Ruby-on-Rails instead :p
Milkytracker FTW!!
I don't see how using FL Studio will get you anywhere as far as free software goes.
I am an avid open source zealot, but I can tell right now: Renoise was probably the best purchase I ever made.
Try out the demo for a while.
Traverse the learning curve and you will be enlightened.

Totally. I bought a copy over two years ago and I've still got access to the new releases and stuff. awesome value for money.
I'll get Renoise when Mr.Bankman regards me as credit worthy. Until Ill mess about with the free ones. Anyway I dont get the music lingo yet, like what does all the software do? WTF is a tracker? Hence need a dummies guide.
I think I'll record or blog my music progression and make my own guide when I get better.

Even cheaper than renoise is Buzz
http://www.buzzmachines.com/getbuzz.php
it's effectively a modular tracker, so you can build your own noise making/noise shaping 'machines'
if you want a free sample editor to cut up, reverse, pitch, otherwise effect (or affect) your samples, Audacuty is a good start

OP: What is a tracker

I'm good with premiere too, and fruityloops works more or less the exact same, putting clips on a timeline, I recomend that.
(and BTW, suggesting Renoise to someone who doesn't even know what a tracker is is str8 up ridiclous dood)

People suggested Renoise to me when I was still stuck in the slow-producing world of FL studio, and guess what I did?
I learned it.
If I had a question, I looked it up. If I couldn't find the answer, I'd ask someone.
I had never heard of a tracker or anything of the likes, but I bit the bullet and the results were astonishing.
If you're not willing to RTFM, then electronic music is probably not in your best interest.
