That is one of the coolest things i have ever seen. I am severely tempted to get one... if it becomes less insanely expensive that is.

Right, I have decided that I hate you for posting this because I'm now not going to rest until I get one! UK price has been confirmed at £599 but to be honest, I think that is pretty reasonable. I'm hoping Santa wants to be very kind to me this year otherwise there will be a large dent in my savings come christmas!

Apparently there is a show copy in the record shop down the road from me. If they have it in then I'll let you all know what it's like.

Hehehehe, don't kill the messenger  , 599 sounds a little bit of the charts for me, maybe if you would wait a while the price will come down.

But indeed the the things what you can do with it look fucking awesome :D

I already agreed with santa to get a midi controller 8)

Maybe the new years ferry will buy me one :D

According to my amazing time wasting internet abilities i've heard tell that the reason they are so expensive at the minute is because they are still in production/development and so pretty rare. Apparently once Yamaha start mass producing the things they should drop a fair bit in price. Not sure if thats true but i hope it is because i really want one of these things.

Yeah man, i also thought it was in development stage or something, wouldn't it be nice to hook this thing up to something with a little bit distortion. 8)

I also really hope the price is coming down, 599 lol, i could buy a new life with that. :D

Not quite but almost. The product is fully developed and they are testing the market with a small run, UK only. True, if they do catch on and they do a worldwide release, the price would drop. I'm guessing they are aiming for around £400 which would be great. Trouble is, if it doesn't take off then they won't bother marketing it and the test copies would then become collectors items, making the price sky-rocket. Maybe I can justify buying one as an investment for the future...

I think that sounds like a good idea. If the price does go up after you've bought one i can always kill you in your sleep and take it. And if it goes down i can laugh in your face. Either way is fine by me.

Well I think international release is looking promising as the website has already sold out of it's first batch! However, just to throw a proverbial spanner in the works, check out the Monome project, also on release now. A bit different, being more like a midi-controller than a stand alone intrument but pretty none-the-less.
