Laptop Purchasaaaaaaaang!

Postby MarkyPoo » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:22 am

So I Need To Buy A Laptop.
But I Have No Idea What I Need To Look For.
Some Call That Being A Noob.
But I Need Something That Isn't Going To Take A Shit If I Run Quite A Few VST In Fl7 With Two Or Three Controllers.
Any Suggestions? (Faggot, Go To Hell, Nubxor Etc.)

I would be all like "Macbook! Macbook!"... but the new ones no longer have FireWire, soooo I'm kinda bitter about that. :P

I dunno... Anything with a Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz or higher and AT LEAST 2 GB RAM... you should be okay.

My Vaio that I run on has a 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, and 2 gigs of RAM. FL will sometimes go nuts on me, but only if I've got either a shitload of effects or a shitload of samples.

Do you play with FL live though?

Yeah I Would Like To Stay On Windows.
I Play Live With FL (Yeah I Know Live With A Desktop On FL)
It Actually Works Well As A Live Tool Once You Get The Hang Of It.

I've Thoroughly Raped This Desktop And To Top It Off It Has A Great Soundcard But The Soundcard Suffers From The Dreaded "Squeal Of Death"
Which Is Very Frustrating.

I'm running a Gateway 3 gigs of ram with a core 2 duo with 1.8 ghz. I don't run FL, I run ableton and I've had no trouble out of mine. I don't really go crazy with effects, but then again I think ableton is better in a live setting.

I need to get a sound card that will plug in my SD card slot so I can do some internal monitoring when I'm DJing plus so I can do even more crazier effects. I can almost run my turntables into my laptop and have it play out thru the laptop with no lag. I only get like a slight second of lag which still throws you off. One day I'd like to get an external audio interface so I can plugin a bunch of other stuff together.
