This amen hating is really pissing me off though. Your tune isn't "better" because you use a different, randomly selected break from some shitty WAV pack you downloaded off the internet for free. It doesn't fucking matter get me? Indie guitarists use the same effects (it's called a trend), drummers hit the same drums, and all trumbones sound the same! Yes, inevitably, it's what you do with it that counts.

*sigh*.

Amen.

Haha, I make funniez. Seriously though, well said. :)

Does he play the instruments himself or does he draft in an orchestra/band? It certainly doesn't sound digital any how so I can only assume he uses real instruments.

On the Rossz album he sampled famous classical songs so im really interested in what hes done on this album.

yeah. He used a really nice orchestral library, it's quite large (30gb+) and quite expensive. I've got a copy, it's ace.

...cool you can chop up those same sounding beats again.

oh hello, you must be on the anti-amen bandwagon. but i'd like to see you chop them half as good as he does..

.

no not really. yes he does cut them up very well, his sound just seems to have stalled. its like he only wants to stay in his safety zone.

i LUVVD "rossz"....the only thing that keeps me loving it to DEATH is the goddamn pidgeon song. does that accented woman's fauxetry bother anyone else?

this album feels like a bit of a cash-in after the success of "rossz"

or more likely, he got commissioned to do the soundtrack by the filmmaker who said "i LOVE that album...can you do something as close to it as possible but take it down a few notches so it doesn't overpower my film?"

so its not really fair to judge it the same as an album...but it does have that "aftermath" feel to it. good but not brilliant, partially because he had to follow up his own original idea

mild, clean, gentle. delicate sound of thunder? Funk can express his feelings and emotions perfectly. masterpiece.

Got this yesterday. Very impressed. The classical stuff he used is far more developed; more layered and more varied. It seems like he's taking the classical stuff far more seriously and the breakcore/electronic elements actually seem like integrated parts of the overall composition.

Very impressed. Loving it.

i just listened to this again and realized that above i was TALKING OUT OF MY ASSHOLE. LITERALLY.

i think i now listen to this more than "rossz".
i may even like it more (no fucking pigeons!)

i think that album was great and original, but still in some ways a bit "gimmicky" in the mix of breakcore and classical. this time around it is more integrated with his sound. perhaps because the former album sounded like samples of prearranged classical bits, while this sounds composed from mapped orchestral samples. he could go where his mind wanted instead of using what he had.

there's also more synths mixed in on here, like in his other work, so the "classical/breakcore" has these sounds as a kind of middle ground between the opposing melodic strings on one side and cacophonous beats on the other.

or maybe i'm talking out of my asshole again.
