originally "detrimentalist" was supposed to be early or mid june i thought. now boomkat has it shipping like next week in the UK but on US sites the release date is july 15th!!!

Seems like everything gets here soooo late these days. My guess would be that the small distros need to make a big order to make the shipping worthwhile. But I don't know that side of things, so it's really just speculation.

I've been spending most of my music budget on tracking down old stuff I always wanted because the new releases are so few and far between and I can't bring myself to fork out the $20-30 for shipping to import. Seems to be getting better over here in the past month or so though.

yeah i hear you - online shopping is brilliant except the wait and the shipping charges. thats why if amazon has something i want i wait til theres at least 2 things so i can get free shipping - otherwise im at the mercy of forcedexposure's flat rate shipping so i feel like i have to order like 5 things to make the shipping worthwhile

especially since i have no good record stores for miles

i might have to check out chocolate wheelchair again but i think i didnt like what i heard because of (what else) the snares. in some dnb/jungle/breakcore the snare sound just irritates me. sounds like a cheezy old 90s drum machine snare trying to be funky or something. i prefer dirtier snares maybe samples, i dunno but i want some balls, some depth.

not only do the snares sound good on the detrimentalist planet mu page but it has the sick synth lines i love. no im fairly certain i will dig this one.

as for bleep - i'm glad it exists as an option but i like my hard copies with artwork and pre-grouped tracks in artist-determined order. if i determine that i prefer them in a different orientation i'll figure it out later.

well as we all shouldve known, amazon didnt know WTF was up

suddenly various places over the weekend said VS was coming out june 24th

so i ordered that shit PRONTO
...and also the new warren suicide, which aint even close to breakcore but they did a pretty sick remix of a placebo song, full of distortion and farting synths

so detrimentalist will soon be mine


BTW i ended up buying something else on 320kbps mp3 and the same artist on CD so i could make a compilation of their best shit. and dammit if the mp3s dont sound just a tiny bit worse...more irritating in the upper register. so, fuck that shit, it's FLAC or nothing for downloads from now on.
