Why not?

Noise is a genre, sounds as the most fucked up pieces of 'noise'

But it is a genre, listen to Speedranch (solo projects) and think again!

And yes, Current Value is the shit. Even Richard D. James does live remixes with Current Value in it..

Speedranch just about constitutes Breakcore. The problem with most simular artists is they dont really make enough use of breaks for it to really be Break-Core. There is a definite art to what they do but it just aint breakcore. The whole point should be to destroy breaks.

Current value is the shit indeed.

But noise isn't necessarily a genre of music so much as a type of sound that falls outside of the laws of harmonics. The art people make with pure noise isn't really music in the sense that music has something to do with rhythm and melody, or at least one of those things. Noises can be used artistically in many kinds of music, but straight, raw noise being manipulated I can't consider music because it doesn't use tones and has nothing to do with harmonics. One of the more pretentious things I've heard it called was "anti-music".

But I'm not one to say anything about genres of music. I often call a lot of breakcore "fucked up jungle" because to me, that's what a lot of it is. And a whole lot of other stuff just music.

i like the idea of noise, but i like music more. nevertheless, i sample a shitload of noise so i am familiar with it. merzbow=mainstream noise HAHA i never thought of it that way. but you do have a point, some of the best noise is the hardest shit to find. its not like you get popular from making "good noise" i guess unless your merzbow....
