IRC channel

i heard theres a what.cd breakcore irc channel but since my internet connection sucks i'm not gonna join that site without chances of "survival".
BUT: i not only love irc channels, i think that chat protocols are the most productive way (apart from irl-talk) of communication between producers. i've learnt most tricks from people i randomly met on the net and had the chance to chat to for a few hours, also it's... well, its quite nice if you are bored
refreshing this site every 5 minutes can turn out pretty frustrating.
is there a general interest in that, and maybe even people who know stuff about irc and/or would moderate it?
