That's excellent advice!

As for sequencing I would suggest (simply for simplicity's sake) that evenly spaced snares are a great foundation for creating a loop.

Also I find it useful to use a couple of soft samplers; one or two for each hit. Sometimes using a few samplers for the hats and crashes I find useful as being able to tweak frequency and resonance on a few machines adds terrific depth and fullness to a tune's foundation break.

You kind of lost me at the phrase where you mention syncopation. From your explanation I get the impression you're talking about messing with actual sounds, but doesn't syncopation mean stressing an unexpected beat (putting the stress on the odd beats while they're expected on the even beats, for example)? Could be that that's what you meant to say, just not really clear to me.

All the other things were quite useful! :D
