just cos i dont like schranz man lol was only kiddin! what DAW are you using? the best way to get the punch out of a kick is to eq it, cut out as much of the top end as you can and slightly increase the low end from about 100Hz and below this should give you that deep punchy sound, just make sure the eq doesnt clash with your bassline, and to get the hi end and tale of another kick just kinda do the opposite and bring up the eq's mid's once you have the 2 kicks sounding how you want them, resample them and import it back as a single kick drum

I think a lot of people struggle with kicks because they still regard it as 1 sound. try breaking it into its separate elements so you have you will have across 3 tracks:

1. punchy kick
2. distorted tail end
3. (if necessary) sub bass that sits under 2

if you can't get a hang of sidechaining then try sequencing it so 2 and 3 are triggered on the off beat (ie 1/8th after the kicks)
