Tips for beefing up bad quality samples
I have alot of bad quality and quiet percussion I'd like to use, what things do you do to beef up the sound in general?

compression, analog overdrive, gater, eq, transient shaper, beat layering.
or just download, i mean, buy better samples.
you could also replace the drum sounds or layer them and eq the needless parts out.

Haha!
layering is the key... just filter out lots of the frequencies of your samples and stack up like 10 of them, then fuck around with the volumes and filters and RQ and whatnot until it sounds awesome, then export as .wav
thats like the only thing i've learned from trying to produce drum n bass.
(and now i wanna try psytrance and it's like "oh fuck percussion, all you need is our standard psy kick which can't be found anywhere on the fckn internet and you're done with the beat")
fuck trance...
