Any software will do; but try a few demos out and see what you like.

So I would say that any D.A.W. or tracker is good but I use LSDJ, Reason and FL Studio. All so if you are thinking of buying A midi controller I would say the KONTROL49 and/or the Midi Fighter.

If you want to use hardware, don't let everyone tell you you need to get software. There's a whole, gratifying world of machines out there if you want to go that route.
