Hardware problemos? Akai s900 and alesis sr-16

Hardware problemos? Akai s900 and alesis sr-16

I'ev search the fair intrawebs far and wide and found no mention of this problem. Does anyone know why my Akai S900 refuses to accept MIDI from my Alesis SR-16?
Well, it recognizes the MIDI messages because the MIDI lights does its job and lights up, but no sounds are triggered.
The Alesis can trigger other things and the S900 can be triggered by other things.
And its not a keymapping problem.
