Kaoss Pad 3

Postby JohnMerrik » Mon Mar 05, 2007 6:42 pm

So just when I decided that I really wanted a KP-2 I just found about the KP-3!

I love playing with those things way to much. And have been thinking about adding one to my setup for live shows. Dont really know if its worth $400 for the KP-3 when a KP-2 can be bought on Ebay for like $150.

I dont know... anyone got a chance to use that thing yet?

Just forget about the KP2!! Buy the third one. I have the KP2, lot of fun, specially in live, but still a toy. The sound quality is quite shitty, the sampling features are very very very basic (only mono, less than 44.1Kh(not sure)), lots of effects are not syncable when they should be,its also noisy, and there are a lot more litle upsetting things. I recogn they fixed all these problems with the new version...Imean, there's a flash card reader, usb, you can slice your beats on the fly and save them on you pc,time stretching...

Iwas thinking of selling my KP2 to buy the new one...

Meat Beat Manifesto were using Kaos Pads for their live show. They had em rigged up so they could mess with video samples on the fly. I have no idea how they had it rigged up but it was awesome live. They'd drag video clips back n forth like a record and even do a "video scratch"with sounds.

Check their live dvd from the tour and you can see em at work.

yeah there is a kaoss pad FOR video, as well as DVD turntables.... fucking god that would be the best shit for a live performance.... that would be WAAAAAAAY expensive... the kaoss video (whatever its name) is like atleast 1k usd, and the DVD turntables are something like 1.5k each.

that would be a really really rad performance though.

ps - who knew meat beat manifesto was still around, where did you see them? or just on the dvd?

Meat beat manifesto are still going strong. They toured all over last year or so. I seen them in Atlanta and was blown away like always. I've seen em live about 3 times now. I believe they are still selling live cd's of their show and the dvd on their website. They got a remastered un-released material cd out now and finishing up a new cd too.

Ben Stokes was using the hell outta the video mixer with some hilarous stuff and some neat cut ups of their various samples.

I'm thinking of getting one too, i just recently saw it could be used as a midicontroller too.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=hvz8BX2Y5go

Does somebody know something more about it?, and do you know if you can still do all the full effect processing whilest its being used as a midi controller?

Or do i have to buy a midi controller first?

Questions, questions questions, i aint buying one till i know everything it can do for me :P

It costs about 359 euros here(with my coke habbit), a lot of money for me, so i will have to really think about this....

EDIT:Another use for it...
