Kaos Pad

Postby OUTLAW » Sun Jul 13, 2008 4:59 pm

Does anyone have any comments on Kaos pads for production / live mixing . which it could be best used for and possible set ups.

I Figure you can kaos up sounds which you feed to the pad during writting a track, record you fucking around on the pad live via a mixer or something and then import that into whatever program you write tracks with...

anyone do this?

my friend had one for a while. he ended up selling it because it wasn't the easiest thing to use for producing. I don't know what hi exact complaint was about it but like I said, he sold it.

I have a KP3 and I'm going to sell it. I just didn't have much use for it - all I really ever used was the looper and LPF. The sampler is pretty cool, works well - whole unit is suuuuper easy to use.

I guess it's still decent for $400, but I just hardly used mine.

You can use it as just effects with send/return, which is pretty cool. And there aren't a lot of things like it on the market... I say go for it if you have the cash. It's a lot of fun for at least a while. :P

you people who don't use your KP3 .... do you actually play live at all? That's the only reason I want one.

I'd feel slack giving it away as it was a 'gift'. It does have an American power supply however :P

Yeah...

You can plug ANYTHING into the KP3 that has audio out. With the right cable converters anyway.

It's usually pretty ridiculous when people do that with Kaoss Pads though. They'll like strum once, then mess on the pad for the next 5 minutes. :P Looks stupid as fuck, usually doesn't sound good either.

Although.......... The lead singer/guitarist for Muse has one built-in to his guitar and he actually makes it sound good. Like, really good. But then, that's Muse... The average person isn't that good. :P

the kaos pad mini is great for live stuff. Battery powered and small, perfect for traveling.

I had my heart set on using one (for live sound) and recently had the opportunity... It was.... fun.... LOTS OF FUN...

400 dollars worth of fun? Not so much. But If you can get one used... or as a birthday present from a lovely Aussie.... Then by all means! I guess what I am saying is; Yes they are awesome... I want one, but I don't want to buy one.
