What does V Snares use for live sets?

Postby DJ Dijitol Junkey » Sun Jul 06, 2008 12:37 am

Recently I saw Snares doing a DJ set in new york but he had some little work station with him. He was using it to loop parts of the track and do other shit. It was sort of faulty and screwing up which was funny but oddly still sounded really good... maybe I just do too many drugs...
But yeah, does anybody know what that might be? It wasn't the mixer, I haven't done enough drugs to think the mixer was a cyborg alien sent to crush the skulls of iguanas and fuck V Snares sets up... yet

I can't remember which CD decks he always uses. They are a dual rack mount with a break out box for the transport and speed controls on. I think they do looping stuff too. That is probably the box you saw. Its not a separate piece of hardware but a controller for the CD decks.

It was definately Renoise sometimes, otherwise CD + some midi-controllers...

But the main thing he uses experience and brain.

That's my personal advice for everyone here though)

he essentially plays his tracks directly from cds that he burns, pretending to turn knobs that do something. being a listener of virtually his whole catalogue, i have studied him and he does not do much when he is onstage.

since this bothers me so much, i am working on writing software that will be better than ableton live for doing live breakcore. i will have videos once a beta is up and running
