Well, now it makes sense .. i've never heard of "rockband", but i know what guitar hero is.

im pretty sure that if you have one of the nintendo Wii guitar hero controllers then you can easily interface that with midi messages

you just connect it via bluetooth to your computer and then there are libraries around to help plumb it into stuff. might require a bit of coding but should be easy enough to do

i found an xbox controller driver online and mapped the buttons to my keyboard using contollermate
it worked pretty well
i like to get it working well enough to use it live

Haha, one of my friends did that with a Wiimote, which is probably about the same process.

It's pretty cool. With the Guitar Hero/Rock Band controller though - can you assign every button to MIDI? Like, could you set the little strum flipper thing to trigger, say, a bassdrum sample? That'd be nice for double bass. And weird. :P

And what about the start/select buttons, control pad, etc. And the whammy bar?! :o

I might be interested in doing this if all those worked. If it's just the buttons up on the neck though, I don't think I'd bother.

Oh, woot! 101st post. :D

yeah you can assign controlls to all the buttons
the wammy bar is a value range so you could control an envelope
i had the strum bar set as a closet hat on the down stroke and an open on the up so accents were easier

Someone should control the Guitar Hero controler as a midi control. Expect a wide range of chiptunians coming out this summer!
