I think the dj ones then to boost the bass a bit..

also, how they are build is a very important difference. the dj headphones needs to be more polyvalent.. like to have only 1 ear on it..

The best resonably priced headphones (in my humble opinion) are the SENNHEISER HD25-1, the ones with the split headband.

They are tough, loud, great response, leakproof (sound that is), and are perfect for DJing, Studio, and mp3 players.
Although I think Ipod are sh*te, I have a SONY NWA-3000 - awesome sound quality, especially with the Sennheisers..

I've never heard of Nady headphones. Why are these so good?

I've got cheepo Sennheiser HD 202. I'm not saying these are super headphones, but they work OK for me.

HD25s are easily the daddy for DJ headphones. Seems most DJs in the UK agree although I did see a thread on another forum going on about Pioneer being the most popular DJ headphones. Mostly americans but I generally trust Head-Fi's opinion on anything headphone related...

Differences between DJ and studio monitor headphones? DJs want close backed superaural headphones for maximum sound isolation on the ear. You can get a far better (clearer, more open, flatter freq response) from open backed. DJ headphones need to be tough as fuck and need to have moving parts for one ear monitoring.

For studio monitor headphone I would suggest looking at Beyer DT880/990 if you don't mind spending a little money. Of course Sennheiser, Sony, Grado and many others also make high quality headphones so there is a lot to chose from. I would suggest you try anything before you buy to make sure you like the sound and find them comfortable. Also beware that headphones do take quite a few hours for the drivers to burn in.
