Try checking the previous Renoise threads, they might be of help. For instance, this one, where someone asks exactly the SAME question: http://ihatebreakcore.com/modules.php?n ... opic&t=654

ive been trying to get my head around renoise for a few weeks now. its a real beast but very cool. I used some jay-z samples from his acappella cd and a few samples from pussy squirting carly. its called Origin of the PTM.

i've got to say that it will take some time before you know how everything works, i use it now for maybe a year and am still learning new things.
I learned much from just doing things and see what comes out, and lots of tutorials on the internet with usefull stuff.
And use some vst's, they are great to work with! Spacesynthersizer, galactix, bizune vst and quaker are some good ones, there is one very nice vst but i forgot the name, not at home right now i will post it later .

you don't need to know the full in's and out's of renoise to make use of it. I use it as a simple sequencer, and hardly ever make use of advanced tracker style features like pattern commands etc.

i chose to produce with it, because it's just so stripped down, no gui bullshit getting the way, nice and simple, as basic as it can be really...

I suggest you first start by messing with the 8 huge rectangular buttons at the bottom of the software interface. Make sure you understand each of the panels do.. figure them out one by one.

Then I suggest you load a sample, only one just to start messing with it.

Find out how to record notes in the track (the record button at top left)

mess with that, try to figure how to add stuff in the DSP chain, to change your sound.

I guess that would be a good introduction to how renoise works
