Programming

Postby S2K08 » Fri Oct 16, 2009 12:07 pm

I'm on a real programming tip lately, I want to know if there's any software that allows you to make music without any GUI, just straight up code.

I know of MAX/MSP, but (Algorythms :( )I was thinkin more along the lines of:

importWav(amenbreak.wav) = new Loop();
for (int i = 0; i < 666; i++){
mangle.Loop;
}

Any ideas?

Yeah, SuperCollider...though I think there's an optional GUI too.

sound, looks like madness. I actually tried most of those suggestions above, and none of them really appealed to me, they were all quite rank actually. I instead decided to learn to use famiTracker, good buzz tho anyhow

you check that autechre max video I posted? It's not much of a GUI but lots of coding to make music. Also you could make a tune in max I guess but it'd look like a bunch of boxes following a branching family tree.

I just did a tutorial the other day that used various timing arguments to trigger events. So you could trigger sounds at certain times or time signatures. Lots of wild things you can do if you get an idea and have the know how.

Know its an old post but to anybody interested, Openframeworks provides nice possibilities for controlling sound with c++ as well as Processing do for Java. Just google these for more info.. But still I would go for Max/MSP if only sound production is needed.
