So what's going on?

Here's the deal, I'm pretty new to this business and after 'fannying' around with a few programs I've settled with renoise - quite possibly the best tracker I've ever worked with. That thing is dynamite for the heavy heavy dubplate action :D
However, I'm not a huge fan of the arrangement system. It's just a little too fiddly and long winded.

So I've started thinking... Would it be possible to make up a bunch of beats, lines, breaks etc and render them to wav files, with the intention of structuring it all in ableton or cubase? Does anyone do this? Is it worth it/possible? I've only ever messed around with Ableton so I'm not entirely sure what it is all about.

It's a total nightmare trying to stay motivated with the Renoise arrangement tools.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.
cheers

Yep, it's completely possible to render your tracks to loops and import them into live or cubase.... lots of renoisers do it all the time!

... btw, feel free to come onto #renoise on irc.esper.net (the OFFICIAL renoise channel!) and chat with the renoise gurus :P

Thank you. I was pretty sure it was possible. As long as I know other folks are doing that then I know it's probably a good way to work, rather than another one of my obscure but highly effective methods.

...and I will be attending IRC soon.

Again, thank you

I know people that make .wav's in ableton just to free up resources and make things easier to do up tracks/dj in ableton.

The arranger thing is indeed confusing at start.I am used to AXS tracker pattern seq and i find renoise's a bit awkward. But nobody is stopping you to render with the "export tracks separately" option.Just make sure you don't have empty tracks ,and rename your remaining tracks accordingly: you'll end up with a bass.wav,pad.wav files.Easy to build your song later in Live.
Also,"render to sample" right-click command renders your selection to wav,you don't have to render a whole song for that 1 bar loop.

i generally use ableton to warp breaks and that to whatever tempo i'm working at - then export them all into renoise - quite often i'll export again into cubase for more editing / arranging

renoise ftw btw

Wow I really like the idea of making loops in Renoise and sending them over to my other DAW. Thanks.
