Sounds good, I will have to download a demo and mess with it when I get a chance.

How do I breakcore? It usually involves running old hair metal albums through my distortion pedal while banging some pots together.

@ avisupchurch: the great thing about renoise (and most trackers) is that you can change tempo WITHIN a pattern. Yeah, pretty nifty. It's also easier to do different time signatures, and switch time signatures. You definitely can't beat trackers for sheer sequencing/notating ability. Downside is you're going to mainly be working with samples unless you use renoise w/ vst, or one of those "modular composers" like buzz or psycle. I've also heard that trackers suffer from minute quantization errors (?), but this shouldn't be an issue.

Seems like what most people here are saying is that programs like FL and such are better for styles like trance while 'trackers" (I assume you mean programs like Acid right?) is better for breakcore.

Are there any basic steps towards getting into breakcore? RTFM being a basic step of course. I understand that we're all going to have to find our own styles and what not but are there basic things new people should know? Dos and don't s as it were.

Basically, to get into breakcore, you need to have a firm grasp on break chopping, time signatures, gating, retriggering, and distortion. Oh, and of course, you need to listen to it. Alot.

... of course, being able to compose helps too :p

haha spot on, listen to this guy.

i used live for a bit untill i got renoise again, using a tracker was the best thing that ever happend to my music. its so much more convinient for them fast edits, can work much quicker and more comfortabley. i liked abletons automation but then i realized renoises full potential.
