Is Breakcore Dead/Dying?

Postby Sense of Direction » Sat Jan 28, 2012 6:15 am

I'm still quite a noob but it seems like a lot of the bigger artists have stopped making stuff, or making different stuff since 2008/9 or so. Anyone know what artists like toecutter, epsilon, duran duran duran, donna summer, scotch egg, and the like are up to now?
I know bong-ra is making crossbreed stuff lately and Vsnares is still going strong with the new label and all but I want variety :)

Breakcore has been making jokes about killing itself so long that nobody noticed the subtle transition to threats

haha litterally just titled a track "last of the brohicans" - I also just watched the movie last night, conincidenses like this get me hard.

but no breakcore's not dying, that's why there's so much of it everywhere now

No, still so much good music coming out, i don't see how you can say it's dying. Maybe some of the big names quit, but so many new cool producers are everywhere. :D

not sure bout toecutter and eplison but duranx3 is still making sick shit and touring, scotch egg tours all the time and is making more 8bit type madness and donna summer still puts out sick shit on CockRockDisco and also now runs Network Awesome which is a really cool internet TV channel

but there is soooooooooo much sick breakcore going on right now if you just look about, just search soundcloud

i would say it has recently had a resurgence, especially with peace off and some of the other big labels taking on a bunch of new artists, they are the next big names

also the definition of breakcore is changing, theres quite a bit more specific solidified subgroups now rather than breakcore being used to describe all of it, so in a sense i think the term breakcore is dying while the style is continuing and growing through quite a variety of different media

Shit that sucks, although he has quite a lot of stuff out, maybe he has just said all he has to say. He does have some pretty crappy stuff under the name of patricider though, here: http://www.patricider.com/

Not sure how old it is.

out of those artists, bong-ra is the only one I'm bothered about these days.

There's more to it than those same old names, people need to move on. They've had their day but breakcore is far from dead or dying.

Are you saying those "new" bastardo tracks aren't a very nice refreshing kick the ol teeth? bong-ra (I adore him don't get me wrong) his new tracks aint so good... his sets are amazing, for sure, although the "new" tracks... The main thing about him I was after is the oldschoolyeeaaahhhnothingmattersbecauseweareallfuckingbrothersthing!!!!!!!!

I need to stay away form the internet when I'm off my tits

As well new Vsnares samples online today: http://planet.mu/discography/TIMESIG004

Wow, sounds really solid. I really like what he had to say about the songs (especially the last one.)

Breakcore isn't dying, and that link alone should be a testament to that. Yes, some of the older stars are dying, but new ones are being born... Just keep your eyes out for new material. There's a lot of good stuff on random net labels, such as Sociopath Recordings and Braincore Recordings.
