Breakcore & politics or separation of breaks and state

Postby Draegg » Thu Nov 05, 2009 4:17 pm

Breakcore and politics? I know LFO Demon is into politics and stuff.
And breakcore has been called "the new punk" too many times to count, Do politics even belong in breakcore? If you ask me: no. Let´s just have fun and mash til you cant mash no more. What do you think?

p.s im sick and tired, so you´ll have to excuse my shitty english.

Unfortunately Breakcore doesn't belong to any group, as with all forms of music it belongs to anyone and everyone, and as such the individual uses it in whichever way they see appropriate. DHR, LFO Demon, FFF + the Mokum crew, i'm pretty sure a lot of the Praxis crew are politically driven too. I am certainly politically aware, and sometimes I slip it in to song and album titles, i've got nothing to be ashamed of. You can fuse politics and fun though, people go to an LFO demon gig to have fun, it's not like people turn up and discuss Trotsky whilst turning away anyone who wants to rinse it a little. If it's obvious that an artist is in to politics then ultimately you don't have to listen to their music or go to their gigs, the same is true in practically all art forms. If you don't like nazism, you wouldn't go to a skrewdriver gig, likewise if you loathe communism you don't go to an LFO demon concert.

Anything belongs in Breakcore if you want it to, you're in the driving seat.

to me my music is a reflection of me and im a pretty polictaly or to be more precise anti polital person i am an anarchist( i dont want a debate about what being an anarchist is because i am already fully aware of my beliefs without anybody elses opinion) so its bound to make an impact on the kind of music i make, but i think this also reigns true for people who just want to have fun and make awesome crazy tracks too, i feel like breakcore is more about the individual and what you take from the music personally

Breakcore to me always felt political in the extreme left side of it. The fuck it all mentality, no copyrighted sample is safe, everything goes attitude. Also you have to be really openminded about breakcore and that is what most right wing dicks are not.

For me punk still means nonconformity. Wich is exactly why i started to listen to breakcore in the first place. And still are enjoying some of the more odd and experimental variations of breakcore.

May it be political or not, i enjoy breakcore as long as it´s fresh, interesting and crazy as hell.
