myspace is gay, although i do go on there to check out trax & tour dates etc. It seems like a decent way to promote stuff, but if you have nothing to promote or you are not a musician/artist with work you want to show people theres no point having a page. An alternative for music only, or even for specific genres would be great

Ok so its perfectly fine to give money to a large hosting company out of your own wallet but using someone else's website with ads on it is evil and should be looked down upon. hmmmm. Now I understand your specific attack on myspace because it is for the most part people with there head up their ass. But it is an ambiguous quality, the people there are gonna be really your only way ( minus this website ) to get your music out there. Secondly, There are other websites dedicated purely to music such as reverbnation.com ( the interface is nicer and there are no bots and spam messages to bombard you)
Also HTML isn't something that you learn in elementry school.

Aye, I was gonna say, who made your computer? Did you soldier all the components together or did you purchase an IBM machine? The same IBM that sold post it notes to Hitler. What ISP are we using out of interest?

Chances are something in your computer (which you used to make your post) profited some evil capitalist/zionist/other foul entity. If we're posting on here then we've already sold out to a certain extent, the best remedy is to try and moderate your ethics in other walks of life.

You can make ethical changes without stripping off your clothes and running for the caves, it's about finding a moderate mid-point really, otherwise it's all or nothing (something which entails too many sacrifices for most people).

And there's nothing wrong with having a MySpace. It's a very, very good way to promote. I started making music just for me and my friends' enjoyment, but then I started having random people I didn't know add me as a friend. That's a pretty cool feeling.

heh. Not having a myspace account is just stupid if you're trying to get people to listen to your music. This is a site where people will actively seek out new music, hopefully yours saving you a lot of hard work. Yeah building and hosting your own website is sooo "underground". And do you think that, on the tiny chance that anyone finds your website, they'll give a shit about your underground ethics?

Personally, i'd rather make music than waste precious time building a site and twisting people's arms trying to make them visit.

damn..... myspace isn't underground, but at the same time, ive seen a lot of artist profiles that i couldn't find just browsing the interweb.

and pick up greasemonkey (for firefox) then grab the myspace custom profile remover script. no matter how custom yr page is, all i see is the default myspace white page.
