Isn't that a cover?
Aborym is pretty kick ass... Everyone somewhat interested in industrial black metal should check Blacklodge though.

(Especially check the track T.A.O.S.)

This pretty cool to see who on here likes or used-to-like black metal, I'm surprised though that no one has mentioned EMPEROR, they were my absolute favourite for years,

I like a lot of Burzum's stuff, and I have some Darkthrone albums as well. My fave stuff is probably the more proggy stuff though, like Ulver's early stuff, or Negura Bunget who are just awesome. Check this out if you've not heard them.

Emperor is a nice band, I've got some of their stuff. But Darkthrone is no doubt the best BM-band in my opinion. Nothing is more fucking grim than Transylvanian Hunger. It's just the best.
But the best BM-song is no doubt Satyricons Mother North!. It defines everything black metal: Kick ass song, grim lyrics and a fucking silly video. I mean, seriously.... "Oooh, watch me smash this cross with an axe I bought on Hot-Topic!"

When it comes to black, nothing can beat Anaal Nathrakh. That's just fucking insane but clever. I also like Wolves in the Throne Room, with their oneiric, long tracks. Not much else manages to catch my attention for more than one song.

was never particularly a fan, preferred death metal, but my favourite metal band was akercocke, they kind of took elements of both genres + prog.
i do like some of the old classic mayhem etc, theres something very atmospheric about those albums..EVIL!
Hecate has done some black metal - breakcore kind of stuff, a lot of people don't really like her though, not sure why

I can't stand her vocals, they seriously suck. I wish I could say more about them, but I can't find the right words to express my dislike. Music's ok, I guess.
edit: gaybreakcorefags are probably jealous she fucked vsnares.

of the things that have been mentioned,
the only i really listen to are
DARK THRONE (Under a Funeral Moon & Transylvanian Hunger)
REVENGE (though it all tends to blur together after a while for me... their previous incarnation as CONQUEROR had similar output)
and
ANAAL NATHRAKH (hard as nails drum-programming, but the newest release has bit too much of - um - heroic/melodic metal-esque singing on it for me - per usual, their early material is gold)
+++
i've performed looking like this for well over a year now,
so i suppose i have a bit of black metal bafoonery in my blood...
...at least in appearance, eh?

+++
some more of my faves
BLACK FUNERAL - Az-I-Dahak & Ordog are terrific. lead person apparently has a lot in terms of occultisic studies/knowledge, which shapes the lyrics a bit differently than your "typical" black metal outfit. these two releases are 100% computer generated (besides the vocals)from what i can tell, so they perhaps come off like a industrial black metal project a bit like ABORYM (they're interesting too - remember hearing an all electronic/break-esque track on "with no human intervention" if i remember correctly)
PROFANATICA - i like paul ledney's vocal delivery so much, i've sampled it on more than on occasion
DEMONCY - JOINED IN DARKNESS!!!! easily one of my top 10 across genres - thick/evil guitar tones - VERY heavy for black metal, drum machine only enhancing the sound. "Within the Sylvan Realms of Frost" has similar song/guitar structures, but the production a bit more 'typical'
BLACK WITCHERY - sort of in the same camp as REVENGE, in terms of being raging war metal, i.e. - heavy BLASPHEMY worship. however these guys tickle my shite a lot more. primitive, grinding black metal violence. i can appreciate this stuff in a similar way that i do CARCASS ("Reek..." era) & REPULSION...
i could go on & on, so how about i just finish it with a bit of name-dropping:
VON
BLASPHEMY
ILDJARN
HAAT
CORPUS CHRISTII (early drum-machine based work)
select cuts from LEVIATHAN
BEHERIT (early trash)
...& i've just discovered UNHOLY CRUCIFIX in the past few months...
if you can't tell,
i tend to go for the more noisy, raw, absurd end of the black metal spectrum...
especially one-man, bedroom type projects
(go figure, huh?)
sorry for rambling // apparently this topic hit my vein
