Unlike most people I don't believe that Obama is Jesus. I believe he is the lesser of two evils for now. BUT, this is still a step in the right direction and as such I'm happy right now too.

Fat chance, don't expect an end to the west's hostile presence in the middle east. Skim through Obama's manifesto, you'll find he's just as much of a Zionist as McCain and that berk Bush that came before him (And every US President that ever occupied the oval office). Interestingly Obama took nearly 80% of the Jewish vote.

i dont see why it is interesting that Obama got the Jewish vote. i dont know why Jews would choose McCain over Obama at all.

i think that what you non-americans don't understand is that the president really cant take a weak stance when it comes to the american military. Obama is a great diplomat and a peacemaker, but the office he is running for is the "Commander in Chief" which means that he has to protect the US from whatever bad guys lurk out there in the dark. I'm sure Obama wants to be a much less aggressive leader, but the office he is running for demands for him to be america's superhero.

i go to a school with a lot of europeans, and i always think its funny when they rip on america about all of the military occupations. the only reason that america has such a strong military is because since WWII, europe has pretty much relied on america to take care of things when diplomacy doesn't work. the UN works for many things, but if some crazy dictator somewhere starts massacring people, the UN really can't do shit.

my only problem with america's military is when we don't do enough. like we let genocide happen because we have no economic interest in the region. stuff like the genocide in Rwanda and in Darfur hopefully won't happen because Obama got elected because we will finally have a humanitarian in the oval office.

you europeans can bitch and moan about the US, but the only reason we make mistakes is because we are the only country that does things when diplomacy doesnt work. every european knows deep down if the US didnt exist, the world would be a much more dangerous place.

I'm really happy that obama got elected, but don't you think that he'll have to watch for the republicans. Gay marriage, that kind of stuff, I don't think it'll happen in the near future. Obama is in the right derection, but we're heading a long, long way..

Because zionism is a huge obsession in America, a country that is essentially run by Christian and Jewish zionists. The Republicans have long had strong support amongst Jewish communities because of their pro Israel stance, if the Republicans screw up and its Democrat time then the Jews are sorted because the Democrats are also a zionist party. Let's just hope this is a step in the right direction.

Also, a black president might encourage more working-class people to register to vote (even thou Americas stance on criminals not voting is fucking absurd), which would be good in the long run.
Lastly, I hope Obama doesn't fuck with Pakistan. He has mentioned something about going in to search for terrorists. We don't need a third fucking occupied country.

listen, i sympathize with your cynicism, but at the same time, i'm trying to be optimistic.
