GOATLAB:THE DOUBTFUL GUEST / PISSTANK.. FRI 15TH FEB 2008

The Goatlab brings the mother of all parties to The Croft to celebrate Parasite’s 30th Birthday. Come and join the Death$ucker records head-honcho and acclaimed breakcore producer and friends to celebrate with a massive line-up of mash-up talent. Doors are from 10pm-4am. Entry is £4 b4 11, £5 after. Discounts for valiant efforts in the fancy dress department. The dress code is romantic / sexy / goat. There will also be a retro gaming arena in the Bar!!!

Main Room:

The Doubtful Guest (Planet Mu / Seed)

Libby Floyd was “raised by quiet loner musicians and loud mental jazz musicians” and started her musical career as an opera singer in Illinois, before visiting Europe and being tempted to the dark side by the 303. She was invited onto the Rephlex tour bus and they haven’t shaken her off since. Now living in London her caustic blend of schizophrenic drum n bass inspired drum frenzy with lush electro-acoustic sound exploration and a 20th century mind for sublimely fragmented melody has been rocking and shocking dance floors in London for the last 5 years. Her full debut release, a series of manic 303 infused hardcore-gabba numbers, is out now on the illustrious Planet Mu and a remix 12” follows in Jan 2008.

Pisstank (Death$ucker / Cock Rock Disco / Irritant)

Andy White (aka Pisstank) has been mashing up dancefloors with a two-pronged attack since 1998. Not just a producer he is also the man behind the legendary Irritant label, unleashing Donna Summer and Knifehandchop on the world. His live shows blend together every style and quite possibly every piece of music you’ve ever heard. Expect an aural pummelling that will leave you with a grin grafted onto you face for as long as your memory holds out.

Exillon (Ad Noiseam / Zod / Puzzling)

The word ‘broody’ could well have been invented to describe Jay Fields’ unique brand of downbeat menacing acid breakcore, but down forget, this is also the man who also produced the heaviest jump-up jungle Gwen Stefani remix you're likely to hear. All the way from Oakland, California this is his Bristol debut. Hold tight!

Spanner (Anarcho Ska Punk)

Spanner were bolted together from the remnants of Disruptive Element. Now a Bristol ska, punk, folk, anarchist-as-u-like-it rock band in their own right, you will be treated to a set of pogo inducing skank heavy songs to bring down the establishment.

Parasite (Death$ucker / Peace Off)
Parasite is the owner of the Death$ucker label and the fantastic online electronic music shop DSWAT.net. As Parasite he makes some brilliantly twisted ragga jungle that manages to sound extremely dark and yet incredibly funky at the same time. Check out his releases on Peace Off and Damage as well as what Death$ucker back catalogue you can get your hands on. Don’t forget that this party is for his 30th birthday! Why not buy the man a drink while you’re at it!

Anakissed (Death$ucker / plugincinema.com)
Death$ucker's VJ in residence and founder of the internet filmmaking website plugincinema.com. Performing a mish-mash-up of politically charged images and low-fi cinema, and pushing the realms of the visual jockey further are her trademark. She has accompanied Venetian Snares, The Bug, Soundmurderer and DJ Scud at the notorious Toxic Dancehall events in Bristol.

Gusset (Death$ucker)
Gusset have been scaring friends and punters alike since 1996, unleashing aural assaults at breakcore, techno and hip-hop nights around the city. Not to mention anywhere else that will have them, from Brighton to Madrid. They don't fit comfortably into any nice little pigeon hole and have a sound all of their own, but strangely no imitators. After a promising but stalled start as a low-fi Amiga 1200 toting indie band that made Portishead sound like the theme from My Little Pony, they regrouped and concentrated on a purely electronic offering. Their break came in 2002 when Death$ucker head-honcho Parasite booked them to support Fanny and Venetian Snares on board the good ship Thekla (the floating venue brought to Bristol by Vivian Stanshall as the Old Profanity Showboat). Since then they have jumped at the opportunity to support any act their name sounds funny next to. Their long gestating remix album is out now on Death$ucker Records with a bunch of their new tracks and remixes by Planet Mu's Shitmat and The Teknoist, Cock Rock Disco's Jason Forrest, Manchester's king of mash-up Hoonboy, V/Vm's hardoff (aka M-Pi), Parasite and Zod's Binray.

Jay Nom (Death$ucker)
Jay Nom is resident at the GoatLab parties, and can be heard out and about Bristol spinning some of the sickest dancefloor breakcore, ragga jungle and evil drum and bass around. His deck skills are worthy of the finest!

Ironside (P.R.A.N.K / Bashout)
One of Bristol finest DJs and GoatLab resident, spinning anything from easy listening reggae bashment to 200 bpm jungle breakcore.

Front Bar:

Atki2 (Werk / Shadetek / Monkey Steak)

Sam Atkins makes up half of the mighty Monkey Steak and performs solo under the moniker Atki2. Having refined his productions skills as part of Anarchic Hardrive, back at the inception of Death$ucker Records, he can now be found at the grimmer end of the grime and dubstep scene, unleashing bass driven music to put a spring in your step. Leave you preconceptions at the door.

Dub Boy (Ruffnek Diskotek)
DJ Dub Boy is a Bristol based DJ (and co-promoter of Ruffnek Diskotek) currently playing a variety of sound-system musics aimed squarely at getting waists winding on the dancefloor. Over the last few years Dub Boy has blazed a trail on the Bristol club scene and beyond helping re-ignite Bristol's underground bass driven music scene. Playing what he has coined "Forward Thinking Bashment", Dub Boy is only confined by his mantra of spinning "riddim and bass".

Nim Chimpski (Bad Planet / Finga Munkie)

Simian sign-language expert and Goatlab resident Nim Chimpski returns to mash it up. Anything goes, just as long as some heavy beats are going on too.

Would love to but I'm stuck up in Norwich. Went to the last one though and it was awesome. I was veeeeeeery drunk though, still have the bruise on my finger nail from where I managed to slam it in one of the doors at the Croft! Hope it's a good birthday party for you, I wish I could have a line up like that for mine...

Everyone's rinsing that Bring Da Noise track at the moment! I think it's more memories of Tony Hawks 2 than anything else but that whole CD is great. Good to see Juxtaposeur on the show as well, Skip to the End is always a good way to end the month.
