Venetian Snares - My Downfall (original soundtrack)

Postby rtificial » Fri Oct 12, 2007 11:10 pm

Surprised I didn't see this posted here yet. This came out on Planet-mu on October 1st. From the bits I've heard so far it sounds like another album in the vein of Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett, but with more epic and gothish orchestral backing. Anyone picked this up yet?

Yeah it is the same general style, but only one song actually has any solid percussion track, it's ALL instrumental.
Does he play the instruments himself or does he draft in an orchestra/band? It certainly doesn't sound digital any how so I can only assume he uses real instruments.

I agree with rtificial (RE: Rossz Csillag), but I'm really not a fan of this album - the strings, harps and horns sound way too cheesy and far too similar to the default classical midis that come with Windows, and the tracks with breaks did not complement the overall "classical" feel at all. Very disappointing.

That said, the tracks Colorless and Room 379 are beautiful.

every note of the "strings, harps and horns" were sampled from real instruments .. i don't see how that could possibly sound like cheesy windows midi. You want your ears tested, dollsnatch

Nah my ears are fine thanks.

You're going to be a very busy boy if you intend to argue with everyone who doesn't like this record.

I got it in the mail this weekend, I enjoy it when I'm in a mellow mood. I wouldn't say its his best work, but I still like it better than some of his other stuff in his looooong discography.

totally. the breaks just sound like beat + classical. although. I love the album even if it's a bit flawed. it's not too flawed to be shitty, thats for sure. I'm glad I purchased! :D
