DTO is proud to have the new Originate imprint exclusive to our store. We managed to fire label owner Kosine our question set and here it is:

•What is the ethos behind your label?

Fairly simple ethos behind the label, It's built as a home to support artists that may not be getting the exposure they deserve. Pushing hi-end underground Jungle & J-tek productions to the scene for the scene by helping it grow in the UK, Europe & Worldwide.

•What Dj`s are supporting the music on your label?

Pilgrim, Outrage, Modular, Bassline Smith, Bizzy B, Stranjah, Theory, Insight, Grooverider, X Nation, Crissy Criss, Classifide Material, Secret Society Etc.

•What artists do you have signed and are there any you have your eye on for the future?

Kosine, X Nation, Theory, Voytek, Insight, Classified Material, L Drift.

We do have our eye on a bunch of up & coming artist's & more establisted, We would rather hold tight than let them all out the bag at once.

•Will you be releasing vinyl as well as mp3's?

Yes, Eventually we will be releasing ltd 10" presses. Bringing back the style & culture of dubplates from the early 90's.

•Give us three words that sum up the style of the music on the label.

Raw, Energy, Vibes

•What other labels and artists are you feeling at the moment and why?

Really feeling a whole host of artist's at the moment mainly Jungle, D&B, J-Tek, also Dubstep artists including :

Labels such as : Scientific Wax, Outsider, Digital Soundboy, J-Tek, Shogun Audio, Soul:R, Cloud 9, Metalheadz, Tango & Ratty (Unreleased Projects), Pure Tone Etc.

Artist's : Equinox, Nolige, Guy Called Gerald, Drum Cypha, Instra:Mental, Breakage, D Bridge, Escher, Digital, Antidote, Insight, K Dan, Outrage & Modular, Seba, Dub One, Double O, Serum, Nebula, Solar, Paradox, Sub Fusion, Skream, Moody Boyz, 2562, Loefah, Evs, 4 Hero + Many More!

Way too many artists proper on form right now!!

•Does the label host any radio shows?

Not at present.

•Why did you decide to start a record label and do you think there are too many labels out there at the moment with the whole online mp3 sales?

I decided to start a record label as I were receiving hi volumes of quality music and thought it would be a great idea to get up & coming artists out there for the dj's to play also giving strength to the jungle scene as a whole.

I feel there is many labels out there at the moment, But not many pushing J-Tek, Oldskool or Future Jungle styles.. We feel more than happy to start releasing material in this ever growing market place.

•What are your thoughts on the J-Tek movement and where do you think it can go in the future?

I feel the J-Tek scene is building and getting a great rep for itself. I love the stuff that has been released so far & feel the future is developing & focusing even more on cross over genres with J-Tek like Broken Beat, Industrial, Reggae & Ragga, Dubstep & Breaks to make it even more interesting & vibrant.

•What is your current music top 5?

Hailing from the South Coast England UK Classified Material formally know as N.T.A. began life in 2001 as an output for heavy obscure Breaks, Hardcore Breakbeat & Electro. The music produced under the alias 'Classified material' is very varied which reflects Paul's musical influences. The main tempo for the most of his output is around the 140 -160 bpm range. Classified Material is one to watch in the J-Tek scene over the next coming months.

Classified Material – Foundation
A deep & twisted Jungle Tekno inspired track, Starting with mellow atmospherics, monster combinations of 4x4 rhythms, heavy breakbeats & pounding sub bass. Classified material has really hit the spot by mashing the breaks with fx, infusing sharp direct synth tones & unique voice sample’s . A must for any dj’s pushing tracks from labels such as, J-Tek, Puretone, Global Plan & Cloud 9, Foundation has been getting full support from J-Tek dj’s Modular, Outrage, Pilgrim, Secret Society, X Nation & Kosine.

Classified Material – Understand
Understand is a rolling hardcore techno stomper. Using a mixture of classic funk breaks, synth sounds, bleeps & intricate percussion lead with a tight kick sound.
CM shows his talent within this genre creating a chunky & melodic piece making this EP a solid release for Originate Recordings & J-Tek enthusiasts worldwide. This release has received DJ support from Pilgrim, Secret Society, Antidote & R-Dub
